Initial context

Emmanuelle Guillou, photovoltaic project manager, explains to us how Explain supports the daily work of the “ground projects” division at Orion Energies, both in prospecting and in development.

The teams of the recently created “ground projects” division were looking for a new tool to structure the prospecting activity and promote the development of the new “small ground projects” orientation.

On Orion's historical activities in the photovoltaic sector, the team sought to optimize the tedious work of looking for field information in order to identify new favorable areas and prepare for meetings with institutions.

No need to spend hours on the sites of town halls, prefectures or MRaes: Explain automates the collection and processing of all publications from local authorities, public administrations and local press titles.

“Before Explain, we didn't have a tool dedicated to prospecting. In particular, we used Geoportal and Cartofriches, but they did not allow us to sort efficiently and often made us arrive downstream of the projects. We had to complete this with a Google search, in particular to search for the ZAERs.

Promote the acceptability of projects

‍

Explain alerts bring up local news about its projects in development. This makes it possible to monitor the technical and environmental issues specific to the territory and to see how they have been managed on other projects. By addressing these constraints from the start, you promote the future acceptance of your project.

Improving the quality of interactions in the field

Explain offers a filter per elected representative to access the latest statements by local actors in connection with renewable energies. Users also have access to the history of the functions occupied by the elected official in question. This feature saves a lot of preparation time prior to meetings with institutions.

“Explain allows me to go into the field better armed, with a better context, especially in departments that I know less well. It is a very good tool to support field work, which allowed me to halve the preparation time before appointments.

The tool has not changed anything at the pace of our trips, but it makes our field work more effective because it is better targeted.”
