Pauline Ferry is a wind exploration coordinator at VSB. She explains how Explain helps her identify more quickly the areas favorable to the establishment of a park and to improve the quality of her exchanges with elected officials.

Background at VSB

Explain came to VSB following the desire of development managers to increase their efforts on collaboration. The teams sought to respond to a double challenge:

  • improve the quality of projects
  • strengthening relationships between VSB and locals

Be the first in the acceleration zones

In many regions, the competitive and political context does not facilitate accessibility to municipal councils. Responsiveness to the requests of municipalities offers a real advantage.

“Explain allows me to quickly target areas favorable to the development of our business. I am notified as soon as a municipality in my territory integrates wind energy into one of its acceleration zones.

The software makes my activity in the field more efficient, the canvassing is more fluid. I quickly get the context I need to know if a trip is relevant, and so I'm going to knock on the right doors right away, with the right speech.”

Be responsive to requests from municipalities

Urban planning documents, local press articles, speech by an elected official... Weak signals of opportunities and local news make our users more responsive and relevant to the interactions they have with local authorities.

“I have the example of an article reported in one of my Explain alerts where a mayor was talking about wind energy. The city council seemed to want to conduct feasibility studies. Without Explain, I would have missed this information.

Result: I was able to have discussions with the mayor in the hour following the announcement, and make rapid progress on field studies. This responsiveness allowed us to get an appointment with the city council in one month, where I previously took six months to plan a meeting.”

Improving geographic coverage

In a context where the publication of local public documentation is exploding, Explain automates the collection and processing of all publications from local authorities, public administrations and local press titles. No need to spend hours on the sites of town halls, prefectures or MRaes: relevant local information is sent back to the Explain user interface, effortlessly.

“Before Explain, territorial monitoring was more laborious and less comprehensive.

Now, my entire department is covered. I am capturing opportunities that I would have missed without the help of technology. We have a much broader vision and we have the possibility to select the scale that interests us according to our needs: the municipality, the community of municipalities, the department.”
